Infinity

Infinity

How lame it is to try and tame
infinity, in all its glory

we limit it to really really big
infinitely big
we say

and there are different sized infinities
this one bigger, this one smaller

and how dumb to try and
quantify an eternity

a really really long time
neverending
we say

but who wants to live in a really really
big universe
for a really really
long time?

Isn't infinity the absence of quantity
and eternity the absence of time

outside of quantity, outside of time
that is where infinity and eternity roam

not this, not that

neti, neti

and in this new world,
boundless
borderless

we live

in infinity
for eternity

The infinity of the integers is smaller than the infinity of the real numbers.

oo(integers) < oo(reals)

Think about that one for a while. Then...

oo(reals) < oo(power set of reals) < oo(power set of power set of reals) < oo(power set of power set of power set of reals) ...

Boom! And your head detonates. Whatever you think of infinity... theres always a bigger infinity. Muhahahahahahahahahahahaha

Um, I was going for a more metaphysical / mystical approach to infinity, but your way works too. It's all how you look at it. Perspectives, all the way up and all the way down.

Oh I know you were Dave-in-the-front. I just wanted to add that on... because its fun. Merge the two perspectives, ya know? Flip sides of the same coin. Yin and Yang. Vanilla and Chocolate. Cookies and Cream. Apples and Oranges.

That kinda thing.
