Ah... who even knows. What is a driving force anyway. In my opinion, the driving force is the potential for complexity. Any instance of complexity that occurs will cause that complexity to be more prevalant.
Therefore, the driving force is nothing more than a favoritism for complex creatures (that work of course) but the complex creatures only come about through randomness.
